In the Summer/Fall, KMFA offers 9-man tackle football for boys and girls, ages 6* – 13. We play as a member of the Southern Interior Football Conference (SIFC) alongside associations in Vernon, Kamloops, and Salmon Arm. We are excited to announce the 2026 program addition of U16 Bantam back in the okanagan to help give our young athletes who don't have an oppertunity to play otherwise continue and or start their football legacy with KMFA please pre register today.
Practices begin in July, running through Summer, with games beginning in September. Practices are generally Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays and game days are Sundays. The regular season runs through October; Playoffs begin in November with winning teams advancing to the 9-man Provincial Championship.
AGE DIVISIONS
Age Divisions are based on birth year; Your child’s age as of December 31 of the year the program runs will determine their age division. (*Children who are 6 at the time of registration but who will be turning 7 by December 31 of the playing year are eligible.)

Age Groups:U10: Born between Jan 1, 2017- Dec 31, 2019
U12: Born between Jan 1, 2015 - Dec 31, 2016
U14: Born between Jan 1, 2013 - Dec 31, 2014
U16: Born between Jan 1, 20211 -Dec 31, 2012
Program Schedules U10-U16 Practices:Teams will have two practices per week, generally starting after August long weekend with evaluatuions and training camp potentaily starting mid July for the 2026 season. exact dates will be released soon.
Games:Games will start in September on Sundays. Games can be played in West Kelowna, Kelowna, Vernon, Salmon Arm, Penticton or Kamloops.

KMFA is a member club of BC Provincial Football Association and Football Canada. As such, in addition to registration fees the following membership fees are required for insurances: BCPFA $13,Coaches training $5, and $10 for Insurance.
BCPFA Competition Fee: $10 (paid once per year in the first season that the athlete plays). Other Affiliation/Development Fee (Tackle) $20
*BCPFA and Football Canada Fees are non-refundable.**If you played winter or spring flag then you will not be charged these fees again, (except the Tackle Development fee). Please make sure you register with the same email address as you did for previous seasons.
Players age 14 and up can transition into playing High School football. Four of our local high schools offer football programs - Rutland Secondary School, Kelowna Secondary School, Okanagan Mission Secondary, and Mount Boucherie Secondary School. There are currently no opportunities for community Fall Bantam or Midget tackle football in the Okanagan.

EQUIPMENT CARE
KMFA supplies all tackle players with helmets, shoulder pads, padded pants, and a mouthguard, plus game jersey and socks. An $850 deposit is required, new thias year is a teamlink deposit during registration sign up. As long as all equipemnt is returned you will not be charged the fee but take notice it is your responsibility to sign out and return all equipment as well as maintain in good condition.

Our Equipment Clubhouse is located at 1021 Ellis Street. At the back of the building, take the stairs up to the door.
Cleaned and well maintained gear will help keep your athlete healthy. Here are some helpful tips and guidelines to care for your equipment:
- Do not attempt to repair or alter your equipment, especially your helmet. Gear is fitted to your child at the start of the season, but should the gear become uncomfortable or show signs of damage, please advise your coach or Director of Equipment.
- Treat your equipment with respect. Hang or store in a dry place when not in use, never sit on it or throw it. Check regularly for signs of wear and tear.
- Pants and jerseys can be washed in your regular laundry, with stain removers as needed. Hang jerseys to dry.
- Helmets and shoulder pads can be wiped down with an antibacterial wipe or damp cloth and pads sprayed to disinfect as necessary. At the end of the season, return your gear clean and washed. You keep the socks!
