West Kelowna Minor Football
We are happy to announce that we will be bringing back minor community tackle football to West Kelowna. In a new arrangement with the Kelowna Minor Football Association (KMFA), we will be introducing the West Kelowna Minor Football Grizzlies. This will be a Westside community program open to all kids. There will be 3 divisions structured by age groups.
Atom (U10) - birth years 2013, 2014, 20157, 8, 9 Peewee
(U12) - birth years 2011, 201210, 11 Junior Bantam
(U14) - birth years 2009, 2010 12, 13
In the Summer/Fall, WKMF will offer 6 or 9-man tackle football for boys and girls, ages 6* – 13. We will play as a member of the Southern Interior Football Conference (SIFC) alongside associations in Kelowna, Vernon, Kamloops, and Salmon Arm. Registration fees include all equipment, (Helmets, shoulder pads, pants & jerseys) and insurance coverage will be through the association. All coaches will go through a certified coach’s clinic, and we encourage parents and former coaches to sign up.
Practices will begin in July/August, running through Summer, with games beginning in September. Practices are generally Tuesdays/Thursdays and game days are Sundays. All practices will be held in West Kelowna. League games will rotate on Sundays to one of the member associations, Kelowna, Vernon, Kamloops, and Salmon Arm. The regular season runs through October with playoffs commencing early November after the regular season is over.
To gage the level of participation on the westside, we would like to ask all players/parents who would like to play in West Kelowna to pre-register on our website www.kmfa.ca and click on “Register Now”. From there you will be redirected to esports desk, and after creating an account you will find the West Kelowna Tackle “pre-registration” program to sign up.
No fees will be required at this time. We are planning to host a meet and greet day for both the players and families and will have the kids run through a mini football type combine workout that they will all enjoy. More information on this date to follow.
We will be looking for new and returning coaches and volunteers at each age group- experience is welcome, but not required.We are excited about bringing youth tackle football back to West Kelowna and we invite all kids and parents from West Kelowna to Summerland.
